Foothills Child Advocacy Center offers free training for all adults, including parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers, doctors, nurses, staff at youth-serving organizations, and members of community organizations.

 Stewards of Children (Initial Training)
Stewards of Children is a nationally recognized child sexual abuse prevention program that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Designed for parents, grandparents, staff in child-serving organizations, and all concerned adults. Foothills offers this training in English and Español.

​Stand Up for Kids!
This training is for mandated reporters, adults who are mandated by law to report suspicions of child abuse or neglect. The program empowers individuals and organizations to partner with child protection agencies in the community to keep kids safe. This program is offered through Foothills and local Departments of Social Services.
  • 1 hour to 90 minutes

Detecting Child Abuse Virtually


This training is especially relevant for teachers and others who work with children; all are welcome to attend. This training will specifically offer techniques for supporting child safety during the pandemic, virtually as well as in person

EMPOWER
​(Educating More People on What Enhances Resilience)
EMPOWER is a program of the Greater Charlottesville Trauma-Informed Community Network. This training shares the science of trauma and resilience and how it impacts all people. Participants will learn tools and resources to help them better interact with those who have experienced trauma and increase resilience in all people.
